Description
In today’s evolving payment landscape, substance use disorder treatment providers face increasing scrutiny from regulators and payers. In this session, Health Management Associates’ healthcare compliance experts explore current compliance trends in Minnesota and nationally, including emerging fraud, waste, and abuse enforcement. Building an effective compliance and ethics program can help providers identify and detect risk exposures and implement corrective action to prevent enforcement. This is critical as providers expand their funding streams and increase their volume of Medicaid and Medicare. Attendees will receive a refresher on the 7 Elements of an Effective Compliance & Ethics Program and engage in small group discussions to identify and share real-world compliance challenges. The session will outline key steps to building a robust compliance program, especially for organizations transitioning from providing non-billable human services to being Medicaid-billing healthcare providers. Finally, we’ll discuss how to effectively respond to audits and payment recoupments.
